Device Fabrication

The New Jersey Center for Biomaterials has the equipment to transform our as-synthesized polymers into a wide range of different shapes suitable for in vitro or in vivo experiments and analyses. When necessary, the processing can be performed under clean room conditions.

These are the resources available for polymer fabrication:

    Films

  • Solvent casting
  • Spincoating*
  • Compression molding (Carver Press)*

    (Nano) Fibers

  • Benchtop melt extrusion (Randcastle Extruder)*
  • Electro-spinning (in-house built setup)*

    Other Forms

  • Rods
  • Injection molding (CSI Instruments)
  • Microporous salt-leached scaffolds*

    Salt leaching technique

Salt leaching / thermally induced phase separation technique

    Sample conditioning

  • Vacuum ovens
  • Dessicators
  • Incubators
  • Ethylene oxide sterilizer
